Toptable review about Lindsay House (Soho)
Chef Richard Corrigan has left reviewers gasping for superlatives after dining at his cosy, slightly eccentric Lindsay House restaurant. The decor is updated traditional, with creamy walls and swaggy drapes, and looks quite a lot like a Georgian house - because it is in fact a Georgian house. The two dining rooms are on the tiddly side, but are smart and comfortable. But these are trifling details next to the real point of the place: Richard Corrigan's cooking. The technique is fluent French, the influences are heartfelt Irish, and the combination of the two is superb. A recent menu included starters of gazpacho of English crayfish, and spring vegetable salad with confit chicken and foie gras creme, main courses of wild salmon with salsify, brown shrimp and fennel emulsion, and pot au feu of beef, ceps and root veg, and puds of five variations of raspberries and banana souffle. All of which are mere words on the screen, whereas the actual execution of the dishes raises them to foodie elysium. And award-givers have been falling over themselves to gong Corrigan and his team. The wines and the service are superb.
what the critics say In contrast, chef Richard Corrigan's inventive and audacious cooking regularly achieves the highest standards. This evening was no exception, with a succession of exciting taste combinations arriving at table. Flavours were so clear, the presentation so enticing, it was sad to see plates disappear. - © Time Out, Eating & Drinking eatdrink.timeout.com 2003
