Who is this course aimed at?
Do you find it difficult to make sense out of the 1855 Classification?
Bordeaux was once unrivaled as the source of the finest red wine on earth, but how the world has changed! Women now have the right to vote, the old school tie just won’t open the same doors and those Chileans make some damn fine Cabernet Sauvignon for under a fiver. Does Bordeaux still deserve its place at the top of the wine world? Perhaps? Maybe? Definitely! Come and be the judge for yourselves as we lead you on a journey through Bordeaux’s finest appellations.
Our Goal
Bordeaux is still the benchmark for fine red wine and has even surpassed the status of wine – it has become a currency and commodity that is traded the world over. We aim to give you a better understanding and knowledge of the Bordeaux region as well as develop your skills as a wine taster.
Course Content
History, viticulture, vinification, ageing potential, vintages, wine investment, food matching and other important issues will be covered. Our tutors will guide you through the left and right bank explaining the nuances of each of the appellations and will point you in the direction of good affordable Bordeaux to drink and unaffordable wine to lay-down as an investment. They will also pass on insider tips to help you when buying young Bordeaux ‘en-primeur’ or mature vintages from restaurant lists. Is there really life beyond Claret? Of course not!
