My friend has one of the best jobs you could ever imagine. She works at a school of food and wine in London and runs courses on how people can match wine to food to get the best possible pleasure out of the experience. It was quite amazing how she managed to work at the school of food and wine in the first place as she has no formal qualifications. However, she had worked at a restaurant near the school of food and wine as a sommelier for many years and the people who owned the school had visited the restaurant several times over they years and been really impressed with her knowledge. The day came when they decided to offer her a job giving out her experience to other people who were keen to learn more about food and wine combinations. She absolutely loves her job and she finds it so much less stressful than working in the restaurant. As she says, in this job her working hours are just like a normal office job whereas in a restaurant she was working well into the night on a regular basis. As you can imagine, all of her friends are incredibly envious of her.
I have always been interested in wine. Of course I like drinking it, who doesn`t? But I have really been trying to become as knowledgeable about the subject as I can because I really like the idea of being able to choose different wines in a restaurant to accompany different foods. My husband has bought me numerous books about wine in the past but I always get bored of them halfway through and give up. My sister said that I could do with going to a wine school to go on a course about wine run by people who really know what they are talking about. Immediately I thought a wine school would be a fantastic opportunity to learn more about my favourite subject and eagerly sat my husband down to tell him about the idea. He was really enthusiastic about the idea and asked me to look into a wine school in the local vicinity or as near to home as practicably possible. He said that he would pay for the course for my birthday. I was so thrilled and told him that it was worth it as I would never disappoint him again when ordering wine with a meal in a restaurant.
